Rẻo can be a small, narrow strip cut from cloth, paper, or another material, or a long narrow tract of land; as a verb it can mean to trim an edge or to make one's way along a boundary or route.

`Rẻo` có các lớp liên hệ với dáng dài hẹp hoặc đường men: (1) danh từ chỉ miếng nhỏ, thường dài và hẹp, cắt/xén từ vải, giấy hay vật liệu khác, hoặc dải đất hẹp: `rẻo vải`, `rẻo giấy`, `rẻo đất`, `rẻo cao` (*strip; narrow piece; narrow tract; upland area* theo toàn cụm). Phân biệt `rẻo` với `rẻ` giá thấp, `rẽ` đổi hướng và `reo` phát tiếng. Tab Nôm `釕` chỉ ghi lớp `cắt rẻo`, không kéo sang đường đi hay tên địa hình.
