Hổng chừng is a Southern Vietnamese expression for an uncertain possibility: perhaps, maybe, or it could be. It presents a guess rather than a fact, and may come at the beginning or end of a clause.

Hổng chừng dùng để nêu một khả năng hoặc phỏng đoán chưa chắc, gần không chừng, biết đâu hoặc có lẽ tùy câu. Cụm này không làm điều được nói thành sự thật, lời hứa hay dự báo chắc chắn. Hổng chừng khác hổng phủ định: trong cụm này, toàn bộ biểu thức mang nghĩa tình thái. Dịch là perhaps, maybe hoặc it could be tùy vị trí và giọng điệu; đừng tự thêm mức độ sợ hãi, hy vọng hay kết luận chỉ từ cụm từ.
